The Superman coin features a color image of Superman bracing for action in a visual style reminiscent of the DC comics of the 1980s. The stylized background mimics the panels and “halftone” pattern of the comics, achieved by the Mint with the help of laser technology. On the left side of the design, the Fortress of Solitude is portrayed in silver. Inscribed on this side of the coin is SUPERMAN, 2016, and the coin’s monetary denomination of 20 DOLLARS.

The reverse design for the Wonder Woman coin is similar in style to the Superman issue and features a depiction of Wonder Woman’s island home of Themyscira, also known as Paradise Island, in the background in silver. Inscribed along the rim is WONDER WOMAN, 2016, and the monetary denomination of 20 DOLLARS.

The Batman issue also features a color image of the character before a stylized silver background implementing panels and the halftone pattern. In this rendering Batman swoops high above the skyscrapers of Gotham City, and BATMAN, 2016, and 20 DOLLARS are inscribed on the right. The obverse of each coin carries Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

The set is housed in a unique three-coin collector case that ships with the Superman issue; its mintage is limited to 10,000 orders. For more information on the Superman coin that launches the 2016 DC Comics 3-coin silver Proof set, please visit the Web site of the Royal Canadian Mint.
