The Royal Canadian Mint will soon begin issuing 2016 Superman one-ounce silver bullion coins, which are composed of 99.99% silver and will have a mintage limited to one million pieces. This release follows up on several popular limited-edition bullion coins produced by the R.C.M. recently, including the “Call of the Wild” series and privy-marked Maple Leafs.
The reverse of the new coin features the Superman S-Shield at its center, with radial lines filling the field. Inscribed along the rim are CANADA, 9999 FINE SILVER, 9999 ARGENT PUR (“Pure Silver” in French), and 1 OZ. A maple leaf privy mark numbered “16” is also included and the coin’s bullion finish is enhanced by frosted relief.
The obverse carries Susanna Blunt’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with ELIZABETH II, 2016, and the coin’s monetary denomination of 5 DOLLARS inscribed along the rim.
As pictured above, bulk purchases of the coin will be shipped in authentic Superman packaging. 25-coin tubes feature a Superman seal, while multiples of 500 pieces are packed in Superman-themed “monster boxes.”
These coins will be available from a variety of bullion dealers, including APMEX, which is now accepting pre-orders and expects to begin shipping the issues on June 20.
