Perth Mint New Product Releases April 2015

The Perth Mint of Australia has started accepting orders for an assortment of new coins. This includes the latest releases in the ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary, Australian Age of Dinosaurs, Famous Ships that Never Sailed, and Disney Princesses series, as well as coins paying tribute to Dorothea Mackellar’s My Country, and a kilo sized 25th anniversary Silver Kookaburra proof coin.

All of the new coins can be found as the first entries within the recent releases section on the Perth Mint’s website.

Three 1/2 oz silver proof coins carry designs depicting symbolic images and themes from the First World War representing Australia and New Zealand’s involvement in the Gallipoli campaign. The three coin set is part of the ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series, which will run for five years from 2014 to 2018.

The three designs for this year are themed “Bravest of the Brave”, “Billies for the Troops”, and “Spirit of the Fallen”. Each coin is struck in 1/2 oz of 99.9% pure silver to proof quality with colorized elements. Edge lettering around each coin contains the words “Pride Respect Gratitude”. The set carries a maximum mintage of 5,000, with a limited number of 2,500 subscriptions available for collectors looking to guarantee availability of the three coin sets for each year.

The 2015 ANZAC 1/2 oz Silver Coin and Stamp Set includes an Australian 1/2 oz silver proof coin, a New Zealand 1/2 oz silver proof coin, an official Australian Post stamp, and an official New Zealand Post stamp.

The matching Australian coin and stamp depict the silhouettes of an Australian and New Zealand soldier against the rugged hills of the Gallipoli peninsula at Anzac Cove with sprigs of Golden Wattle. The matching New Zealand coin and stamp depict the soldier silhouettes against the beach at Anzac Cove with fronds of Silver Fern.

The sets are limited to a mintage of 2,500 units and come housed in a clear latex display case with black frame.

A series of four 1 oz silver proof rectangular coins will pay tribute to Dorothea Mackellar’s My Country, one of Australia’s most widely recited and beloved poems. Each coin will carry the words “I love a sunburnt country” with another line from the poem describing the different landscape depicted.

The first coin carries the words “A land of sweeping plains” with a reverse design depicting an Australian plain with two kangaroos grazing amongst wildflowers with a homestead in the background.

A complete four coin set is available with an issue limit of 750 sets. The coins are also available individually with a limit of 4,250 pieces each.

The fourth release within the Australian Age of Dinosaurs series features the Minmi, an armored quadruped about three meters in length that would have eaten ferns and low growing plants. The dinosaur is depicted set against a background of colorful prehistoric vegetation.

Each coin is struck in 1 oz of 99.9% silver to proof quality. The maximum mintage is 5,000 pieces.

The latest release in the Famous Ships That Never Sailed series features the Chimera from The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor. The reverse design depicts the Chimera sailing in the background with Sinbad the Sailor standing on a rocky outcrop in the foreground.

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, each coin is struck in 1 oz of 99.9% silver to proof quality with a mintage of 3,000 pieces.

The second release in the Disney Princesses series features Princess Aurora from Disney’s 1959 animated film, Sleeping Beauty. The design of the coin features the princess surrounded by classically struck flowers.

The coins are officially licensed by Disney, struck by the Perth Mint, issued by the New Zealand Mint, and legal tender under the Pacific Isle of Niue. The 1 oz silver proof coin has a limited mintage of 10,000 pieces. A 1/4 oz gold proof version without coloration is limited to a mintage of 1,000 pieces.

A 1 kilo silver proof coin is issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the Australian Kookaburra. The coin features the original reverse design used for the coin when first released in 1990 with the dual date of “1990-2015” and a special “P25” mint mark.

The coins are limited to a mintage of 500 pieces. Customers in the USA are directed to order the coin from GovMint.
