The Royal Canadian Mint’s Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin is now available in a new one gram size. The coins are packaged into sets of 25 and referred to as the “Maplegram 25” product.
“The Royal Canadian Mint always strives to innovate and diversify its products to offer customers new ways to own high-quality precious metals which set new standards for the global bullion industry,” said Marc Brûlé, Interim President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. “The Mint’s new Maplegram25 product gives investors a novel way to purchase Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins in a highly liquid format that preserves and celebrates all the trademark qualities of the Maple Leaf brand.”
This year, the 99.99% pure Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins have previously been offered in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz sizes. The new one gram sized coins will be the smallest size available within the expanded range. One gram converts to 0.03215 troy ounces or about 1/31 of a troy ounce.
The one gram coins in the Maplegram25 product feature the same design as the regular bullion coins, crafted in minute scale. The obverse design features the Susana Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the reverse contains the central maple leaf image. Each coin is struck in 99.99% purity with a bullion finish and has a diameter of 8 mm. The legal tender face value is 50 cents.
The 25 coins included in the product are packaged within a divisible blister card that individually serializes each coin for added security. The entire card is placed in a protective sleeve with an assay certificate certifying the purity and weight of the coins.
The Maplegram25 product will be produced to demand and as with other bullion products will be sold through a network of bullion distributors.
Recently, the Royal Canadian Mint has been making some interesting improvements and additions to their bullion offerings. In 2013, a new micro-engraved security feature was added to Gold Maple Leaf coins. This was followed by a similar feature and complex radial line finish added to the Silver Maple Leaf coins in 2014. Finally, a new 10 ounce 99.99% pure silver bullion bar was launched over the summer, which offered an advancements in quality, purity, and security from other 1o oz silver bars on the market.

Trade you a coin for a loaf of bread? After paper becomes useless we will then turn to this form and then, well you all know the rest…

One good thing about 1 gram gold Maple Leaf bullion coin is that it can be launched into outer space like New Horizons spcecraft to Pluto and beyond.

Bullion is supposed to be priced near melt. I can’t imagine these 1 grams will be anywhere near melt. The manufacturing, marketing and profit costs have got to add a big margin to them.

It’s impressive to see the Royal Canadian Mint introducing the one gram size option for Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins. This move provides even more accessibility for investors to participate in the precious metals market. The Mint’s commitment to innovation and investor-friendly choices is truly commendable.
