The Perth Mint of Australia has started accepting orders for their latest batch of new product releases. This month is led by the Australian Kangaroo 25th Anniversary Gold Proof Coins, available across five different sizes. Other new products include the 2014 Australian Kangaroo Silver High Relief Coin, the 2014 Australian Outback Silver Colored Coin Collection, Chinese Astrological Year of the Horse Coins, and a new half gram gold coin.
Orders are already being accepted for the new products, which can be found as the first entries within the recent releases section on the Perth Mint’s website.
A range of gold proof coins have been issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the iconic red kangaroo design. The reverse design features a bounding red kangaroo surrounded by stylized rays of sunlight. The inscriptions include “Australian Kangaroo”, the anniversary dates “1989-2014”, and an indication of the precious metal weight and purity. The words “Red Kangaroo” appear below the image and the “P25” mint mark is incorporated to signify 25 years since the design was introduced.
The Preth Mint is offering an individual 1 oz sized coin with an issue limit of 600 pieces from a maximum mintage of 1,500. An individual 1/4 oz sized coin is also available with an issue limit of 1,600 from a maximum mintage of 2,000 pieces. A five coin collection including 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz size coins is also available with an issue limit of 400 units. A 400 piece maximum mintage is indicated for the 1/2 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz sized coins.
The individual 1/4 oz sized coins and 5 coin collection are not available for distribution to the USA from the Perth Mint website.
The 2014 Australian Kangaroo Silver High Relief Coin features a depiction of a kangaroo set against a rural property rendered in high relief. As with other Perth Mint high relief coins, the obverse and reverse designs are minted on concave surfaces to ensure optimum metal flow and make for a stunning appearance. This represents the fifth year that a high relief one ounce coin has been offered featuring the kangaroo.
The coin carries an issue limit of 19,000 pieces from an overall maximum mintage of 20,000. Each coin is struck in 1 troy ounce of 99.9% silver with a diameter of 32.60 mm and maximum thickness of 6.00 mm.
The final release within the Australian Megafauna coin series features the Megalania, a giant extinct goanna which inhabited Australia during the Pleistocene period. The reverse of the coin features a depiction of a Megalania against a colored background, designed by paleo-artist Peter Trusler.
Each coin is struck in 1 troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver to proof quality with a diameter of 40.60 mm. The maximum mintage is 6,500 pieces.
The four previous releases of the series have featured the Procoptodon, Diprotodon, Genyoris, and Thylacoleo. Each of these coins still remains available for sale.
The 2014 Australian Outback 1/2 oz Silver Colored Coin Collection includes coins featuring colored depictions of the kangaroo, koala, and kookaburra. The designs are the same as seen for this year on the respective bullion series. Each coin is struck in 1/2 oz of 99.9% pure silver to proof quality with a diameter of 32.60 mm.
The Perth Mint will issue no more than 4,000 of the collections from a maximum mintage of 5,000 coins each.
The Chinese Astrological 2014 Year of the Horse 1/2 Silver Proof Three Coin Set features colored caricatures of horses and the Chinese characters for “Fu”, “Lu”, and “Shou”, meaning “Prosperity”, “Longevity”, and “Success”. Each coin is struck in proof 1/2 oz of 99.9% pure silver to proof quality with a diameter of 36.60 mm.
No more than 1,500 of the three coin sets will be released. The Prosperity Coin is also available individually with an issue limit of 500 coins from a maximum mintage of 2,000 pieces.

The coin has an unlimited mintage and comes in a protective capsule on an illustrated wallet sized presentation card.
