The Perth Mint has started accepting orders for what seems to be their last numismatic product release of the year. The Lunar Good Fortune 2014 Year of the Horse Silver Proof Two Coin Set features two coins with colored designs representing “Wealth” and “Wisdom.”
The “Wealth” coin’s reverse design features a rearing horse wearing a ceremonial saddle. In the background is a colored depiction of a money tree heavy with gold coins. The design is surrounded by a horse shoe to symbolize good luck, along with the inscriptions “Wealth” and “2014 Year of the Horse”.
The “Wisdom” coin’s reverse contains an imaginative depiction of a painting of a horse on parchment, surrounded by paint brushes and an ink stone. The brushes and ink stone are intended to signify patience and wisdom. Once again, the design is surrounded by a horse shoe shape to symbolize good luck, with the inscriptions “Wisdom” and “2014 Year of the Horse”.
These coins are issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The obverse design features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the “2014” date and the monetary denomination of “1 Dollar”.
Both coins are placed within a display case with an illustrated shipper and numbered certificate of authenticity. No more than 1,500 of the sets will be issued by the Perth Mint.

Looking ahead, the next releases from the Perth Mint are scheduled for January 7, 2014. The long list of numismatic products to be released on that date can be found here.
