  1. fmtransmitter says

Really like the first and the last coin. Thank you Michael. Looks like CRM is in for new products along with the rest of the World.

  2. G says

That last coin sold out in minutes- hard to find now- it’s really a nice coin.
Also- there were a bunch of Superman coins which went on sale but they aren’t available for US customers. Kryptonite!

  3. Louis says

The colored coin was available from talisman for $95 and then $120. You can still get it from Gatewest for $120.

  4. gatortreke says

I’m a Master Club member so I got the early notification for the Autumn lake coin (last in list) but when I called, I was told the mint had already sold out. Sales were limited to two per household but it went quickly. It’s a nice looking coin, wish I had been able to get 1 or 2 specimans.

  5. fmtransmitter says

Those 20 for 20’s are huge sellers. I wonder if we could find any updated data as to the RCM and the Banks procedures for actually obtaining the cash if you need to cash one in to pay a bill for instance??

  6. fmtransmitter says

The RCM has a phone in order only notice for Autumn Bliss (last) coin, including a US number, so you still may be able to buy one by calling…Just an FYI. If anyone finds out please keep us bloggers posted on this one. What a beautiful coin indeed.

  7. fmtransmitter says

Yes Michael, I read that article and remember the story indeed. Thank you. Was curious if there was any updates or recent articles about any NEW procedures in place as that was a first.

  8. gatortreke says

@fmtransmitter: I called the RCM at the U.S. number listed earlier this week to inquire about Autumn Bliss and was told it sold out last week. 🙁

  9. Louis says

Same thing happened to me when I called which I why I jumped on it when Talisman got it for $95 Monday after midnight. The bald eagle experience was even weirder. I am in the club and when I went to the RCM site it was not even listed. But that was also at Talisman for same price as RCM, a bit less in fact and should still be available. Gatortreke- If you really want the colored one you can get it from Gatewest but for $120.

  10. fmtransmitter says

I now it has been mentioned here before but I forgot if there were negative or positive comments about Talisman and their service and quality of coins ie picked over? They do not seem big into TPG coins and state they are a major wholesaler so I assume they just buy and flip. I just ordered the Eagle and the Gladiator coins from them. I could of gotten the Gladiator for $99 graded 69 but with NO OGP from MCM but I would been charged tax from them so I paid an extra $10 for the OGP. I want the packaging as it has the COA number in it plus it is attractive. There will be 3 in this series I found out. I bought it because I love the look of it period! Gladiator was one of my favorite films of all time and I am into Ancient Rome.

  11. fmtransmitter says

The Eagle? Well that one is no brainer IMO. The previous 2 did not appeal to me at all but the action of the hunt and my NIUE Bald Eagle PF70 ER will look really sharp along side of it. That third eagle looks fantastic IMHO.

  12. fmtransmitter says

Now, if silver could only get to $100 before I die OR Gold drops so low they stop mining, which I hear is $1200 to keep the mining operations going, which may limit silver mining, we will all be sitting pretty like the old timers who bought tons of it at $4 per ounce back in the day. Silver is typically found along gold and will always be needed in industrial use.

  13. fmtransmitter says

BTW the serial number edge lettering is a nice touch and I see this as the future for modern numismatics IMO.

  14. fmtransmitter says

Talisman states: The following oval shaped coins, each with edge lettering, antique finish, full color and a total mintage limit of only 999, are planned:

    #1 – Provocator
    #2 – Gladiatrix (female gladiator)
    #3 – Murmillo
Now if that means 333 of each offering that would be a bonus but if not, oval, edge serial number, cool looking ANTIQUE proof finish, and a few other tid bits made me really like this offering. Again, IMHO.

  15. samuel says

RCM does not bother to sell coins to collectors, all to the dealers. i have given up on RCM, after perthmint.

  16. Louis says

Actually, you can still order it from gatewest. The click to order button is active. They just don’t have it now but RCM does not have it now as they are not available yet. backordered for gatewest does not mean out of stock.

  17. fmtransmitter says

Correct Louis, It is indeed available to purchase. In stock was bought up fast! Not sure how many they had to begin with…

  18. gatortreke says

@Louis: Thanks for the original Gatewest tip as well as their ordering process clarification.

  19. Rolling-Thunder says

Gatewest is a good company and have purchased RCM coins from them many times – never disappointed with their service. However their relative prices in general have gone up in the last year – even on initial offerings.

Looked at both Gatewest & Talisman this time & Talisman was ~$20-$25. dollars cheaper delivered for the 4 coins I ordered. So ordered from Talisman.
Their reputation is somewhat spotty – but have also purchased from them many times – have had to wait longer than I would like sometimes, but have always eventually received everything I’ve ordered.

One other advantage to Talisman, they usually don’t charge your credit card until just before shipment – whereas Gatewest usually charges you credit card immediately (sometimes this can be 2-3 weeks before shipment).

  20. fmtransmitter says

Thanks Rolling-Thunder, Do you think that Talisman is just a middle man and drop shipping or do you think they have their items in stock physically? Generally with such a long shipping time, if it is a product that has been released and not on a pre sale, they are just middle men buying wholesale and selling retail if it takes weeks to receive an order. Otherwise why wouldn’t it be sent out in a day or two…??

  21. Samuel says

    fm,
-for new releases, they pre-sale, basically middle man, and lead time maybe several months in some cases.
-for old coins, they have them in stock.

  22. Rolling-Thunder says

    @fmtransmitter
I don’t think of Talisman as a middle man or drop shipping. Many potential reasons for “slow” shipping – some not controlled by Talisman and others possibly under their control.

For example, usually order RCM coins from Talisman the day RCM posts them on their “public” website (I’m not a Master’s Club member) & sometimes even though RCM has released the coins for sale RCM does not immediately ship and several times has “delayed” shipping on their coins that can persist for weeks – so Talisman has to wait too.

Talisman often posts this on the bottom of your order:
“Just Announced, will ship after release upon receipt here”

Also Talisman is possibly a one or two man operation – so takes awhile to get orders out.

But Talisman also sells on eBay, in some cases I’ve been waiting weeks for coins as I watch Talisman sell them on eBay. Makes me think that maybe they withhold shipping their website sales on hot coins (while selling them on eBay) to limit competition from flippers who bought in early. For example “Autumn Bliss” – started on Talisman @$99.95 & now at $119.95. Haven’t looked to see if Talisman has “Autumn Bliss” on eBay – but did see this happen with dragons during the mania. Buy from them on eBay & it ships fast!

Gatewest can also increase their prices quickly – Autumn Bliss when I 1st saw there was $114.95 & then ~5 minutes later $119.95 (never saw it there for issue price of $99.95).

“Autumn Bliss” sold out so quickly from RCM that many speculate a large quantity was allocated somewhere to a dealer or perhaps Canada Post – only time will tell what is going on with this coin!

  23. Rolling-Thunder says

Just checked Talisman does have Autumn Bliss (pre-sale) on eBay for $134.95 – glad I bought my one at issue price from their website!

  24. fmtransmitter says

Nice grab! Thanks very much for the information. First time ordering from them. It DOES sound like a one or two man operation from what you say. Thanks Samuel.

  25. fmtransmitter says

Ha, just opened up a Noah’s Ark Bullion 1 OZ from Scottsdale Silver. Nice round. For a round Republic of Armenia bullion it is a nice looking BU coin. Keep stacking! Silver will be back up better than ever this winter! IMHO of course…

  26. fmtransmitter says

I suspect dealers are stocking up inventory for the holiday season now. Most retail sales are done in the next 3 months, I know Target does 90%!!

  27. Louis says

Talisman is a major distributor for several mints and I have had very good experiences with them, also with Gatewest. As for delays, they are all due to the RCM delays in minting and getting the coins out. I have actually waited much longer with Gatewest than talisman in most cases.

  28. fmtransmitter says

Just received my 2103 G. Britain Britannia 2 Pound Proof Graded PF 69 Ultra Cameo. Number 003 from MCM (Modern Coin Mart). For the life of me I cannot find one flaw on it to make it a 69 vs. a 70. Glad I got it instead of paying $50 more for a 70. With such a low mintage it is a dance on what to buy when looking at graded coins. I will say this coin has such a clear mirror like back field that I can easily use it as such, a mirror. The trident, the owl, the “look” of her all make this a wonderful addition not to mention a first in purity, design, etc. One of my favorites so far for sure.

  29. fmtransmitter says

I read the article about the big dealer in the U.K. dogging the RM coins and how they never increase in value. That may be historically true, hence the reason for all the changes taking place at the Mint, which could make this years coins sleepers down the road. Only time will tell. Nice to see that treasure found off Ft. Pierce in Florida Michael. I always say and WILL always say there is more gold under the water than we could ever imagine or have found above. It is a heavy metal and travels down down down. Thanks for the weekly update.Nice to read.

  30. fmtransmitter says

ON TOPIC: If you try to add Autumn Bliss to your cart on Talisman, there will be an error message. Product available “0”. So if anyone know who else is selling this coin please post. Thanks.

  31. fmtransmitter says

Got an order in for one at Provident. Hope it goes through…Thanks for all the help fellow collectors…Can’t wait to see the ripple effect on the water for this offering.

  32. Rolling-Thunder says

    @Samuel
“Royal Baby Silver £5 George and Dragon” – just me & you waiting!
Actually have seen a few others waiting on other forums.

Heard last week 2-3 week delay – “awaiting stock” – guess Royal Mint too busy striking new 20 for 20 version.

    @fmtransmitter
don’t see “Autumn Bliss” on Provident? Did you mean Gatewest?

  33. VABEACHBUM says

@ Samuel and R-T. Make that at least 3 of us who are waiting for our St. G coins. I had discussed my status in the previous thread covering the latest Perth Mint releases. CC charged 3 weeks ago. Still no updates on the shipping.

  34. VABEACHBUM says

Off Topic and an FYI to the Somalia Elephant Collectors on this Blog –

While making my regular check of the different retailers this AM, I came across some listings on MCM for “2013 High Relief Somalia Silver Elephant.” Graded examples; no OGP versions.

While I don’t collect this particular series, these caught my attention because of my interest in any and all modern HR coins. Not sure if this is a first for this series. Still, I don’t recall any previous HR releases for these Silver Elephant coins.

  35. Louis says

    Samuel,
Do you like the HR 2013 Somalia elephant? I also saw Gainesville has the lowest price on them. I normally only get the basic 1 0z bullion version,
but these look like they would be nice.

  36. Samuel says

Louis, i like it, bought multiple. i actually like all somalia coins, UHR or not. i know they r not minted that well, and easy to get milky spots. i especially like the way they change designs every year. ans, this UHR is the 1st.

  37. Louis says

    @Samuel- Thanks a lot.

@Zeeman- Did you try ordering? For some reason no matter what card I use I can’t get the authorization to work. It may be because the RCM does not update its security signatures on its web site. Also, there are so many releases, it’s hard to say which one is best to get. I just wanted to get the coin and stamp set for now.

  38. Zeeman says

Louis@ i didnot order, too expensive for me, but u can buy it from Gatewest coins, same price as from Canadian mint.

  39. Louis says

Thanks, Zeeman. I don’t like the way gatewest charges immediately and then ships later when the coins come in but at least it’s in dollars so the U.S. banks won’t have their usual overreaction to all things foreign. I originally thought the hologram coin would be the most interesting but at least on the screen the art work does not do in for me and some of the others look better.
